You may not remember, but a few months ago I was starting to get worried because Britta was not showing any inclination that she would ever crawl (or move for that matter). She was happy as a clam to sit on her butt for hours each day and heaven forbid I stick her on her stomach. Well, at about 11 months she finally figured out how to pull herself into a standing position. With her seemingly new lease on life, she started "crawling" the very next day.
Everywhere we go, people comment on her crawl. It has become so commonplace to me that I forget not all kids crawl like this. For some reason, I never blogged about it, but now that she is closing in on walking I realize that it is definitely blog worthy. Check out the way she moves-- seriously, this is how she gets everywhere. Sister definitely wanted nothing to do with her stomach or knees, I just hope she isn't developing really strong muscles on only one side of her body.

Party
B tuned 1,oh...two months ago or so...and we had a party way back then. The babe sure knows how to party. Here's the proof.
I was seriously happy with how these cupcakes turned out.
Cousin love.
She had absolutely no problem eating her cupcake. She looked at me afterwards like: "Um, that was delicious. I'll take another."
She got a ton of new toys and I am rationing their introduction so I don't have to buy any new ones until Christmas. Yes, I am that kind of mom.
Happy very belated posting of your birthday, Britta!!

Moved
We moved. It's what we do every six months--just to keep things interesting. You may have noticed that for the past few months my blog has been bore city, and the reason for this is that since we moved to Washington I have been "capital D" depressed. Let me just say, if you have severe S.A.D. and a husband who travels 100% of the time for work, you should never move to the Northwest. Never. That being said, we debated long and hard about moving back to Utah (my vote) and staying, and despite my desires we really felt like we were supposed to stay here. Enter many, many tears here.
We decided that we were going to make a move to Anacortes to be closer to Chris' family so I would not be alone 24/7 and could have child care since I am thinking of making a return to the working world. So far, so good, except for the fact that spring seems to have sprung everywhere else in the nation, but where I live. Don't worry, I use my lightbox religiously and it helps. In the process of moving, our house got broken into (more demerits for Washington) and my computer was stolen. So, you are going to be graced with a backlog of old posts now that I am finally catching up.
Feel free to place bets on where we will be moving six months from now.

Where we've been.
Most recently, I have been recovering from the most hellacious flight back from UT. We got back on Thursday and I still wake up at night in a cold sweat thinking I might kill my child before we land. Let me paint you a picture:
I board the plane with an overly-tired, teething child to find myself assigned a window seat in the center of the plane. Already I know that no good can come from this. We are still at the gate and she has already managed to pull out everything from my seat pocket, my neighbor's seat pocket, and my diaper bag and throw it all over the two by two foot space we are inhabiting. Since that is clearly no longer keeping her entertained, my go-to becomes food. It is like magic--it will always calm her down. Apparently, however, when you let your child stuff herself with Goldfish and milk at an alarming rate, she will throw up.
My one real question in this scenario is why my first instinct when I realize she is about to barf, is to stick my hand under her mouth and catch the throw-up? Really, what reason would a sane individual think catching throw-up in your hand is a great idea? As soon as this happens, I have my neighbor push the call button and the flight attendant comes down the aisle to tell me that "no, she can't get me any napkins because we are just minutes away from taking off." My response was seriously "Oh, ok, I guess I can just hold this barf in my hand for twenty minutes." As we didn't even take off for another ten to fifteen minutes, I am seriously considering suing Delta.
So, now I am wrestling with Britta one-handed because I am desperately trying to keep a handle on the barf in my other hand when she decides that she wants nothing more in the world than to play with/eat the barf I am holding. Truly, truly disgusting. Pretty soon this turns into an all-out meltdown like I have never witnessed from my child before. She is screaming, flailing, kicking--the works. I am sitting there like an idiot apologizing to my neighbors, because in reality "my child never does this." She finally wears herself out after about fifteen minutes when I can finally secure some napkins and clean off my hand.
The rest of the flight is just a blur of up and down in the aisle, trying everything in my power to calm her down or lull her to sleep. I finally resorted to feeding her chocolate and effectively ruining the white blouse I was wearing. But, hey, it kept her quiet for about ten minutes.
All in all, I think we are going on an airplane fast for a while.

This morning's workout.
That's right. I pretty much look like him now, too. It actually strangely made me miss my neighbor in New York who was exactly like the Situation. He and all of his Italian, fireman muscles climbed to the roof and through my window to let me into my house once when I locked myself out on a walk with my two month old. Oh, how I miss Italians.

When I wake...
My baby will be 1. Maybe if I just skip the going to sleep part it won't happen? Oh well...
I had to capture her last moment of "babyhood" as she slept. At Christmas she inherited my baby blanket and I love to see her snuggled in it.
She has grown so much in the past few weeks, and it is amazing how in such a short period of time she is becoming less of a baby and more of a kid. No matter what, though, she will always be my baby.
